Designing the Tesla Experience for Kids
In collaboration with Radio Flyer and Tesla Motors, Volume Studios founder Todd Herlitz served as the Industrial Design Lead for the development of the Model S for Kids. This project brought together two iconic brands to create a ride‑on vehicle that embodies the innovation, beauty, and customization of a real Tesla, scaled perfectly for children. Cross‑Team Partnership | Radio Flyer and Tesla worked hand‑in‑hand, blending expertise in children’s products with automotive design excellence. All team members involved worked hard to ensure the product captured Tesla’s sleek aesthetic while meeting Radio Flyer’s standards for safety and play. Attention to Detail | Every element — from proportions and ergonomics to surface finishes — was carefully refined to deliver a premium experience. The design translated Tesla’s signature curves and detailing into a child‑friendly scale without losing authenticity. Customization & Innovation | Just like a real Tesla, the Model S for Kids is fully customizable online and made to order. Families can select colors, features, and options, creating a personalized vehicle that reflects Tesla’s ethos of innovation and individuality. |
