Century wagon

Century concept wagon

The Century Wagon was conceived as a visionary tribute to mark the 100th anniversary of Radio Flyer, the iconic brand synonymous with childhood adventure and imagination. Though the concept never advanced to full-scale production, it embodied a striking blend of nostalgic design and forward-thinking innovation. Its aesthetic radiated retro charm, echoing the timeless silhouettes of classic wagons and soap box derby cars, while seamlessly integrating premium modern amenities such as padded seatbacks for comfort and built-in USB charging to meet the needs of today’s families.

This celebratory design study was crafted by Todd Herlitz, founder of Volume, during his tenure as Design Director at Radio Flyer. The Century Wagon stood as both a homage to the company’s storied past and a bold exploration of how heritage could be reimagined for the future—an emblem of playful tradition elevated by contemporary functionality.

heritage-meets-modern

The Century Wagon reimagined the classic Radio Flyer experience for a new era. Designed with a nod to vintage style, it was a concept that blended nostalgia with innovation. Though it remained a vision project, the Century Wagon captured the spirit of Radio Flyer’s 100-year journey, proving that timeless play can evolve with today’s lifestyle.
